Carbon Everywhere.

We have been slowly learning the elements of the periodic table. Today we learned about Carbon. We used the Internet, our Basher book of the Periodic Table and a small experiment from our 365 experiments book. We also used our science report work pages that I made for the kids last year.

First they filled out the first page of the science report. This includes name, purpose, and materials. They then write what they think will happen.

Next we do the experiment. I didn't get pictures of this since I was busy supervising since this experiment requires a flame. We held several things over the flame. A can lid, sugar cube, leaf and paper.

We did it over a cookie sheet with a bowl of water beside us. They then rubbed their pencils on the diagram section of the second page of the report, and glued a burnt leaf and paper as well. We will print off pics of the can lid and sugar cube.

Lastly they wrote their observation and what it means. I am typing this as they finish that off. It has been a good morning.

If you want to use our science reports just go HERE and scroll down to science reports.
