CHINESE NEW YEAR
Happy Chinese New Year!
It is the year of the rabbit, I was born in the year of the rabbit :)
This is the PDF I put together for the kids using the internet.
Chinese New Year PDF
It includes the websites I got it all from at the bottom. It also includes some info on the Lantern festival which is 15 days after Chinese New Year.
And a lantern craft that I got here
Yes even Indy made one. He cut the slits himself! And yes that is us in the school room. Still in progress for example we do not yet have our exercise balls or white board...yet

We love Chinese New Year around here. We went to the NYC Chinatown parade last year and saw the lion and dragon dancers. I have some photos up on the blog here: http://homeschoolingonhudson.blogspot.com/2010/03/lunar-new-year-parade.html
ReplyDeleteThe dragon was huge! I have video somewhere....
I'm impressed that you are already back up and homeschooling after your move. I would never have been that organized! Congratulations, and your new home looks lovely!

You are so lucky to be able to take your son to see this. I am thankful that thanks to the Internet we can see video at least. And thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI planned in advance and the kids and I worked on bringing stuff over the week before we moved and unpacking it. Also since I am not that useful at the physical moving I did lots of unpacking during the mice. It helps. Thanks for noticing though. :)
Very nice lanterns and crafts! I am so bummed my camera was MIA for Chinese New Year :P Sigh. :( It's found now though!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I grew up in NYC (Brooklyn), and we never went to the parade. Mikro's first time was my first time there. I think *I* get as much out of homeschooling as he does! I'm not useful for the heavy lifting part of moving either. I can remember standing around on moving day watching my husband throw random stuff in random boxes, because he somehow just never got around to packing his stuff... I can't even imagine doing it again with 1 kid, much less 5. You did a great job! Can't wait to hear how your white board paint works out. That's something I've been wanting to try, but haven't yet convinced Kev...
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteI will post how the whiteboard paint works...that may help.
